Mountains are natural.
Everests are not. Well there is only one, and there is a reason for that. Everest is only for those who are highly trained, highly specialised, highly passionate, and highly courageous.
Why is it then, that so many people feel like they have to face their own Everest without these skills, without being well equipped for the climb, without feeling like it's possible?
They say that when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
So when life throws a mountain in front of you, blocking your path, that path to freedom, happiness, strength and a future, I guess we have no choice but to climb it.
Climbing takes time. Climbing is tough. You may not feel ready to climb. You may feel like you need more strength to do so. But it is likely that that strength will not be something that comes before you take the first step. It will come as you progress.
Climb and struggle and conquer that rough terrain.
The sticks will hurt, but their gashes will close over.
The stones may bruise, but you will be healed.
And the loneliness that you may feel at the bottom of the mountain, will slowly drain away, the closer you get to the top.
If you fall down a few times, you may feel like giving up. That you may as well jump into the unknown (or really the known) back down below. But the truth of it is, is that you need to climb that mountain. And the more you just keep willingly jumping, the longer it is going to take to reach the top.
Life is meant to be lived at the mountains greatest point.
Preparing, contemplating and thinking about that climb may be horrid. So maybe it's best to just take a chance. Stop worrying about how long it will take, how hard it will be, and how many times you will fall down. Those falls won't last forever. And what is likely, is that the faster you take the leap to undertake the challenge, the less time it will actually take to achieve your goal. Strength, freedom and life will come, along the way, and most definitely, at the peak.
So now matter how big a feat that mountain in front of you seems, why not start the trek to the top?
Like taking a leap of faith - you don't know what's going to be at the top of that mountain, but you can bet everything you have that it'll be better than what's at the bottom. We won't know what's at the top of that mountain until we get there, and the strength will come and continue to grow the futher up we climb. It will take time, there will be some stumbles along the way, there will be seemingly impassable rocks, but the higher we climb, the further away the bad things get and the closer we come to reaching the highest point.
ReplyDeleteLike the light at the end of the tunnel - the top is visible, which means it exists. We can get there.
And we will.
